There are almost a couple dozen places in America named, "Providence," the most famous being the town founded by Reformed Baptist theologian and champion of religious liberty, Roger Williams. What is "providence?" Perhaps it's most succinct definition has been given by pastor and theologian John Piper in his book, Providence, "God's purposeful sovereignty."
